T’is the Season Done! T’is our Season Begun!

T’is the Season Done! T’is our Season Begun!

Hi everyone this is Rachael, and the Great Holiday season is finished, Christmas has come and gone and the business of getting back to life is on.  Here at the Creation Station, our yarn season is just getting started.  It is 10 degrees outside with a wind chill of -3, I know you need wool mittens, wool hats, wool scarves and wool sweaters.  Baby, it is cold, I mean freezing outside.  Just imagine sitting in your comfy chair with your unicorn slippers on, soft cuddly blanket over you and your knitting or crochet in your lap.  Maybe a fire going in the background all the while listening to an audible book, my standby is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.

I have had a different holiday season this year, new house, new town, new business and a new routine.  We moved over Thanksgiving, couldn’t find half my Christmas stuff, including presents, got yucky sick, and have no kids living at home any longer.  So it was bundled with tears, laughing and remembering.  I wanted it better since the last two Christmases I spent in two separate hospitals-but there is always next year right?  Our youngest has been home from college and that has helped with one of our kids sleeping under our roof.

My son Ethan and future daughter, Kara.

Clare wearing the Encore Mega in blue. I did this one in Stockinette Stitch so that is rolls at the edges.

The one is in a multi-color of gray and white in Encore Mega. I did the seed stitch pattern on it.

Meanwhile, I have been knitting Encore Mega Cowls, 25% wool, for my daughters and their friends.  I can get one done in about 3-4 hours as I binge watch something I have seen before so I don’t have to really watch it.  Catherine has crocheted a beautiful neutral sweater in one of our new yarns, Authentic, a cotton-mix DK by one of our new companies King Cole.  She also made her sweet hubby the Cozy Co-Ed sweater in a deep blue.  The pattern comes from Ashlea Konecny from Heart Hook Home on FaceBook.  Catherine reworked a sweater she had started last year and it has turned out stunning.  Pictures to come.  She is also working on Stormy Skies by Life is Cozy.  It can be made large or small, Catherine has halted work on it and is making a hat to match and then with what yarn is left over finish the shawl.  Clever idea for using all the yarn up in a project.

My daughter Clare’s friend wearing her wool-free cowl. Made in Premier Yarns-Serenity Chunk, color rust.

Creation Station has another brand new yarn coming from King Cole- Panache, the name is even intriguing!  Panache is a DK weight yarn, 50% wool, 50% acrylic.  342 yards per 100g.  This yarn is supple and warm would be great for sweaters. gloves, hats, and scarves.  But don’t stop there, let your imagination go and create something out of love for someone near you.

Stay Warm…

Catherine & Rachael
