Christmas Club

July-November

Crocheting & Knitting

Providing space to work and instruction, making friends and getting it done.

With July 25 being the official 6-month mark to the biggest game buster of the year, we see a lot of themed sales beginning. Stores already have their Christmas decorations out for sale and those of us who are crafters need to start thinking about who and what we are doing for gifts.

Last year I (Rachael)  suddenly realized that I was short on gifts. I needed 6 simple inexpensive ideas.  Well, I’m in a yarn shop daily so of course, I go with yarn. I picked Encores mega bulky yarn, size 13 needles and made the world’s simplest garter stitch cowl for my own three girls and three of my youngest daughter’s closest friends. Nothing creates Christmas spirit like knitting non-stop with super chunky yarn on size 13 needles for two weeks! But I did get it done and the girls loved that I made something for them personally. And knowing that I created something useful for each girl gave me a great sense of satisfaction.

That is what this club is all about; making time in our schedule now, getting it done and having fun along the way.  Then during the holiday season, you have peace about your handmade items sitting under the tree and wrapped long before Christmas.

What do you need to do? It’s simple!

  •       We will meet on Wednesday & Saturdays from 1:30-4:30. You can come to one or both; whatever fits for your timetable!
  •       There is a one-time $10.00 club fee that is payable on your first visit.  If you join later, it will still be $10.00.
  •       Bring your list with you and Catherine and Rachael will help you find the perfect pattern and perfect yarn to make your gift for that certain somebody. They will also help you be successful with your projects. Unfortunately, they can’t knit or crochet your items for you-you will have to do that yourself!

But it won’t all be work. There will be fun, friendship and community. There will be prizes and giveaways!!! There will also be teaching and learning. It is amazing what you can learn from others around you who are doing the same thing, and we have some very talented people in our area who can help you.
